The glitter and confetti have all been swept away. We are already a week into the new year! How are those resolutions coming? A distant memory? Are you falling back into old patterns already?
A few years ago,I began choosing to set intention for my new year instead of making resolutions. I spent some time getting clear on what I wanted this year to feel like. On a soul did I want to BE in this year? Being goes much deeper than doing.
Setting intention requires envisioning and capturing the feeling of your desired outcome. It is a process that requires being still and listening to your innermost desires and feelings. It requires being honest with and true to yourself. Sometimes getting clear is lot more difficult than you think.
I find it helpful to choose a word that embodies the intention that I set for my year. It captures the essence of who I Am becoming, how I want to feel, how I want to be. The process of choosing a word will help you focus on what’s important to you, bringing clarity and inspiration to assist you in growing and moving forward.
Today is a great time to begin thinking about this year or even this month. Today, January 9 is the New Moon. Our grandmothers followed the energy of nature. There is a best time for everything. A time to sow, a time to reap…you get the picture. The New Moon is a great time for setting intention, choosing a word, planting seeds, if you will.
I invite you to set aside some time this weekend to Dream Big, Paint a picture of what you want your life to look like this time next year. What will have changed? How will you feel? What action steps can you take to move you in the direction of your dreams. What default patterns must you be aware of and avoid falling back into?
Place your word where you can see it everyday. Share it with your trusted circle of supportive, inspiring friends. Allow your future to unfold as you live your chosen word.
